Casa Común encourages the participation of a conscious and active citizenry in environmental conservation and restoration efforts, drawing on the diverse methods and approaches that artistic tools make possible.
On May 17th, we held the first community conversation about the Antiguo Acueducto del río Piedras and the Casa Común project. This gathering brought together representatives from communities in the urban center of Río Piedras—including Buen Consejo, Blondet, García Ubarri, Venezuela, and Jardines Metropolitanos—as well as leaders from resilient initiatives such as the Primera Iglesia Bautista and Casa, Amor, Fe y Esperanza.
This dialogue space offered a valuable opportunity to hear firsthand the aspirations and concerns of the communities surrounding the Acueducto. Participants expressed a strong interest in seeing this historic site become a meeting point that fosters community integration and provides a platform to address important issues grounded in lived experiences. Within this context, they asked us to serve as a bridge between the communities of the Piedras River.
Gatherings like this one deepen our organization’s commitment to community participation, transparent dialogue, and inclusive conservation.
We are pleased to announce that the Dorothea Leonhardt Foundation has joined this project as a new collaborator. These kinds of gatherings strengthen our organization’s commitment to community engagement, transparent dialogue, and inclusive conservation.
